Bookings for the refuges and guesthouses of the Tour du Mont-Blanc are opening gradually for the coming season. Opening dates, how beds are released and advice on securing your itinerary without rushing.
A gradual opening
Accommodation on the Tour du Mont-Blanc does not open for booking on the same day: each refuge sets its own date according to its operating season and how it is run. The first releases generally happen in winter, the last in spring.
In practice, it is normal not to be able to complete your whole itinerary in a single session: book what is open, note the missing stages and come back when those dates are released.
Securing your itinerary
Start with the most constrained stages — those where the choice is most limited — then fill in around them. This is the method that avoids having to shift everything afterwards.
Also check the opening and closing dates of each place: in June and September, several refuges are not yet, or no longer, in service.
Useful reminders before you book
- Half board is the standard arrangement: night, dinner and breakfast
- Bring a sleeping bag liner; blankets are provided
- Bring cash in euros and Swiss francs for extras
- Report any change of plan as soon as possible: a released bed benefits another walker
